Soft Machines披露VISC处理器性能指标:指令能效翻几倍

由英特尔前雇员创办的Soft Machine仍在继续开发采用VISC架构的CPU。VISC的工作原理是在硬件和操作系统的原生指令集架构(native ISA)之间,插入一个中间件。然后这个中间件会在将工作负载分发至各个处理器的虚拟核心之前,将原生ISA翻译成VISC的原生指令集。VISC最大的特点,就是能够将单线程的工作负载也分解成块地解决,Soft Machine将之称作“丝线程”(threadlets)。
